Brendan Walsh has already found success in 2021 with five graded stakes wins, including in the Alysheba (G2), the Stephen Foster (G2), and the Mineshaft (G3) with Maxfield.

Walsh has two stakes entries on Saturday at Saratoga, with La Signare in the Diana (G1) and Candy Landing running in the Sanford (G3).

Walsh gave updates on his superstar 4-year-old, along with five others for the latest HRN Barn Tour.

Maxfield. After winning the Stephen Foster by 3 1/4 lengths June 26, Walsh said the $1 million Whitney (G1) at Saratoga on Aug. 7 was the next target. The trainer confirmed that remains the plan as the Street Sense colt prepares to return to the track.

“He is going to work this weekend up there Friday or Saturday,” Walsh said.

Extravagant KidThe Kiss the Kid gelding will return to racing stateside after finishing 14th in the July Cup (G1) at Newmarket on Saturday. The race was a bit of a letdown after he finished third in the King’s Stand (G1) at Royal Ascot in the preceding race.

“We just have to give him a little time here now,” Walsh said. “Give him an easy few weeks and recharge and regroup with him and plan for the fall campaign. Hopefully he’ll end up in the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar.”

ZofelleWinner of the Marshua’s River (G3) in January at Gulftstream, Zofelle finished sixth in her most recent race, the Just A Game (G1) at Belmont Park on June 5. The mare has not worked since the race, but Walsh said that will soon change.

“We just gave her a little break after Belmont,” Walsh said. “Not very long, just a little time off. She’ll probably go to the eight weeks before she gets back on the track.”

Moon SwagWalsh said he was pleased by the filly’s second-place performance in the Indiana Oaks (G3) on July 7.

“We were thrilled with how she ran,” Walsh said. “She very nearly pulled it off. She showed up and she shows up every time, she’s been very consistent. We’ll see how she comes out and then go from there.”

Temple City TerrorThe 5-year-old Temple City mare ran third in the Robert G. Dick (G3) recently at Delaware Park, following a win in the Keertana at Churchill Downs on May 22. Walsh said he will look to continue stretching Temple City Terror out going forward.

“It seems like the longer distances are really her thing,” Walsh said. “We look at the longer races for the fillies for the rest of the year. I’m not exactly sure yet, but the obvious ones would be the ones.”

PrevalencePrevalence, who looked outstanding in maiden and allowance company before finishing sixth in the Wood Memorial (G2) and eighth in the Pat Day Mile (G1), has been off since May.

“He should be back in pre-training here sometime in August,” Walsh said. “He’ll probably be back on the track sometime late fall to early winter.”
