After consultation with owners, trainer Alexis Barba has opted to enter Make Music For Me and Victory Pete in major turf stakes next weekend rather than the Pacific Classic.
Make Music For Me is ticketed for the $300,000, Grade II Del Mar Handicap on Sunday, August 28, and Victory Pete the $200,000, Grade II Del Mar Mile on Saturday, August 27, Barba said of the Pacific Classic nominees.
“We’ve pretty much had them in that order all along,” Barba said. She conceded to being sorely tempted by the Classic, especially with Make Music For Me.
“You can’t help but set your sights on the big one when you’ve got a really good horse,” Barba said. “Maybe it would turn out to be our day.”
