Bandbox Wears Down Rush Now

Heavy favorite Bandbox wore down a game Rush Now to win the $75,000 Private Terms Stakes at Laurel Park on Saturday.

Rush Now was aggressively handled under Mario Pino and set sail after the lead soon after the start. He had four lengths on Bandbox after a 1/4 in :23.59. The lead was down to three after four furlongs (:46.49) and the favorite got a half length closer through six furlongs in 1:11.74.

The two leaders were side by side in the stretch with Bandbox edging clear to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:37.25. The Rodney Jenkens trainee, ridden to victory by Travis Dunkelberger, paid $3.40.

Rush Now ran a winning race but had to settle for clearly second best honors on Saturday. No Easy Answer nosed Tap Star out of the show with Concealed Indentity and Ram completing the six pack. Joe Vann and Distorted appeal scratched.
