Balance the Books Tries Polytrack in Breeders' Futurity

Klaravich Stables and William H. Lawrence’s Balance the Books, winner of the With Anticipation (G2) on turf at Saratoga, and Swifty Farms’ Pataky Kid, winner of the Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) on Polytrack at Arlington Park, head an overflow field of 16 for the 99th running of the $400,000 Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity (G1).                                                      

The Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity, a “Win and You’re In” race for the $2 million Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup  Juvenile (G1) to be run November 3 at Santa Anita, will go as the eighth race Saturday with a 4:49 p.m. (ET) post time.

Trained by Chad Brown, Balance the Books ran second in his debut on turf to Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity rival Craving Carats prior to winning the With Anticipation. Julien Leparoux has the riding assignment on Balance the Books, who will break from post position 11.

Pataky Kid is undefeated in two starts on Polytrack and will break from post position six on Saturday under Paco Lopez. Tom Proctor trains the Oklahoma-bred son of Rockport Harbor.

Other stakes winners in the field include Bluegrass Equine Bloodstock’s Joha, winner of the Colin on Polytrack at Woodbine; Charles Fipke’s Java’s War, winner of the Sunday Silence on turf at Louisiana Downs; John Oxley’s Dynamic Sky, winner of the Simcoe on Polytrack at Woodbine; and West Point Thoroughbreds’ Tree of Life, winner of the Barretts Juvenile on dirt at Fairplex.

The field for the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity, from the rail out, is as follows: Joha (Rajiv Maragh), Are You Kidding Me (Alex Solis), He’s So Fine (David Cohen), Java’s War (Richard Eramia), Tizracer (Jose Lezcano), Pataky Kid (Paco Lopez), Craving Carats (Kent Desormeaux), Dipsy Drew (Jon Court), Charming Kitten (Javier Castellano), Positively (Calvin Borel), Balance the Books (Julien Leparoux), Dynamic Sky (Luis Contreras), He’s Had Enough (Mario Gutierrez) and Tree of Life (Victor Espinoza). Also Eligibles: Hightail (Joe Rocco Jr.) and Zoloto (Junior Alvarado). All starters will carry 121 pounds.
