Veteran jockey E. T. Baird is having a huge 2014 meet at Arlington International Racecourse and put an exclamation on said performance with a four-bagger on Friday afternoon, including two victories with leading trainer and strong supporter Larry Rivelli.  The journeyman has struck at a rate of 26% - highest among all local jockeys - and has hit the board with 53% of those rides - good for second-highest.

He is currently tied with Manny Esquivel for third in the standings (through Friday) with 52 wins and his mounts have earned just over $1.1 million.

In addition to traditional supporters like Rivelli, Mike Stidham and Michele Boyce, Baird has also picked up steady support from trainers like Armando De La Cerda and Anne Smith to make for a diverse clientele of quality conditioners.

Asked what he values most about his steady and successful meet riding for said associates, Baird was poignant in response.  “Every day I can walk out here and you ask me that question - that’s what I appreciate,” he said with a smile.  “The world is always changing and you just try to keep moving on and go forward.”
