Baffled and Curalina Top 2016 Fasig-Tipton November Sale
The sales topper for the 2016 Fasig-Tipton November Sale was Baffled, purchased for $3.5 million by Bridlewood Farm and Don Alberto Corporation. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, the Distorted Humor mare is the dam of Grade 1 winner Constitution and Grade 3 winner Jacaranda. She is believed to be in foal to Tapit, who also sired Constitution.
Three-time Grade 1 winner Curalina, by Curlin, and pictured above, was consigned by Bluewater Sales, LLC as racing or broodmare prospect and sold to Shadai Farm in Japan for $3 million. At age three she won the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes and the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks. She came back at four in 2016 to win the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes.
The 2015 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Stopchargingmaria, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, was bought by Three Chimneys Farm, LLC for $2.8 million as a broodmare prospect. At age three, the daughter of Tale of the Cat won two Grade 1 races in the Alabama Stakes and the Coaching Club American Oaks before coming back at age four to win the Breeders’ Cup Distaff for a third Grade 1 victory.
Cassatt, from the family of Grade 1 winner Dreaming of Anna, sold for $2.5 million to Elevage Bloodstock. The Grade 3 winning mare consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency is sired by Tapit and is believed to be in foal to Curlin.
The 2016 Kentucky Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia, by Street Boss, was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency and hammered at $1.4 million as a racing or broodmare prospect. SF Bloodstock, LLC was the buyer.
Clearsky Farms consigned Bubbler, the dam of 2016 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Arrogate. The Distorted Humor mare is believed to be in foal to Into Mischief. She left the sales ring as a $4.7 million RNA.
