Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert nominated four 2-year-olds to the inaugural $75,000-guaranteed Capote Stakes.

Named in honor of the champion 2-year-old of 1986, the Capote will be run at 6 ½ furlongs Saturday, Sept. 21, the next-to-last day of the Los Angeles County Fair meet at Los Alamitos.

Topping the list of nominees for Baffert is Mo Hawk, an impressive debut winner Sept. 8 at Los Alamitos.

A $925,000 yearling purchase owned by a partnership that includes SF Racing LLC and Starlight Racing, the son of Uncle Mo and the Any Given Saturday mare Princess Arabella won by three lengths as the 1-5 favorite, prevailing like a colt who will appreciate more distance.

Baffert also nominated the maidens Eddy Forever and Hydrogen as well as Raging Whiskey, a son of Bourbon Courage who broke his maiden June 2 at Santa Anita in his second career start.

Among the other nominees is Storm the Court, one of two juveniles who lost their rider in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity Sept. 2.

Trained by Peter Eurton for a partnership, the Court Vision colt upset heavily-favored Garth when 12-1 in his Aug. 10 debut at Del Mar.

The other nominees are Dapper, a first out winner for owner-breeder Bo Hirsch and trainer Gary Stute Aug. 30, El Tigre Terrible, who is 2-for-4 for trainer Peter Miller, Georgian Road, Prince Magician, Shady Empire, Side Street Dave and Tap Back.

Entries for the Capote will be taken Wednesday, Sept. 18.
