Michael Straight hovers above his wheelchair, the solid frame of an electric lift wrapped securely around his waist. His twin brother, Matthew, watches as the motor whirs and Michael is inched out over the soft sand of an indoor arena.

"Last week we moved him on our own and that was brutal," Matt says. He flexes muscles built from two years of race-riding, muscles that now come in handy for helping Mike.
