Benjamin Gonzalez’ B G Suavecito trailed the field early but rallied boldly when set down for the drive to win  Monday’s $51,000 allowance optional claiming sprint at Fair Grounds by 3 1/4-lengths as the longest shot on the board.

Ridden by Eddie Martin Jr. and trained by Isai Gonzalez, the winner returned mutuels of $26.20, $8.20 and $3.20, accomplished the six-furlong distance in 1:10.30 and increased his career earnings to $65,160 with his third win in six lifetime starts.

Dan Lynch, Ken Sentel and Merrill Scherer’s Goodtimehadbyall, also without speed, commenced a rally near the furlong grounds to gain the place, paying $5 and $3 while finishing a head to the good of Vinery Stable’s odds-on favorite Changing the Rules, who pressed the pace and tired from the effort.

Gerry Aschinger’s Gonna Tell Mama established early splits of 21.80 and 45.41 before giving way.
