High Point Thoroughbred Partners’ Awesome Vow took the lead from her outside post, opened up a daylight lead on the backstretch and cruised home through the final furlong to post a 6 ¼ length win in the $38,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

With jockey Pedro Cotto Jr. along for the ride, Awesome Vow stepped the mile over a fast main track in 1:37 4/5 and paid $3.60, $3 and $2.10 as the odds-on choice in the field of five fillies and mares.  Royal Suspicion completed the $17.20 exacta and returned $4.20 to place and $2.80 to show.  It was another length and a quarter back to Lady Kierkegaard, who paid $2.10 to show.

A 6-year-old daughter of Awesome Again from the Alphabet Soup mare Good as Her Word, Awesome Vow has won eight of her 39 lifetime starts.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Sept. 28, when the track will celebrate it’s first-ever Food “Trucktoberfest,” featuring 23 food trucks and a German beer garden. Gates open 11:30 a.m. with first post set for 12:50 p.m.  As always the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
