Asmussen wins 4th Lone Star title; Elliott is top jockey

For the fourth year in a row, Steve Asmussen was the top trainer at Lone Star Park's spring meet.

The hall of fame trainer topped the leaderboard with 52 wins from 245 starts, picking up earnings of $1,536,628.

Karl Broberg came in second, with 38 wins from 180 starts.

Stewart Elliott was the top jockey for the meet, with 48 wins from 236 starts and earnings of $1,313,070. His 20 percent win rate was tops among jockeys with more than 30 starts.

Rene Diaz was second in the jockey standings, with 37 wins from 194 starts.

Down 72%: Lone Star handle drops $36.9 million in 2023

Broberg's End Zone Athletics was the top owner for the meet, with 26 wins from 128 starts and earnings of $536,131. L and G racing was in second place, with 11 wins from 132 starts.

Broberg's 4-year-old filly Jan's Turn to Win had the most victories at the meet, with four from six starts.

Lone Star's meet began April 13 and ran through Tuesday.
