Team Block and Rich Ege’s Askbut I Won’ttell, unhurried early, launched a bold bid when set down for the drive, gained the advantage near the three-sixteenths pole and drew off steadily the rest of the way for a 4 1/2-length tally in Monday’s $43,000 featured race for fillies and mares at about 1 1/16-miles over the Stall Wilson turf course.

Trained by Neil Pessin and ridden by leading rider Shaun Bridgmohan, the winner returned mutuels of $3.80, $2.40 and $2.20 as the odds-on choice of the fans, increased her career earnings to $105,791 with her third win in eight lifetime starts and toured the distance in 1:46.70.

Don Eberts’ Pretty Squall, always well placed, could not stay with the winner late but was clearly second best, finishing 1 3/4-lengths to the good of Dundalk 5’s Blue Smoke Bess.

Pretty Squall paid $3.20 and $2.80 and Blue Smoke Bess returned $2.80 to show.

Keith Chudzik’s Super Poni made the pace with splits of 25.02 and 51.39 before tiring to sixth.

Racing resumes Wednesday at Fair Grounds for a nine-race St. Patrick’s Day card with a first post of 1:10 p.m.
