Each year the Arlington International Racecourse jockeys participate in a charity event leading up to the Arlington Million.  This year, the local riders have selected to raise money for Salute, Inc. with several members of the colony participating in the Homestretch for Heroes 5K   Run on Tuesday, August 12.

In addition, Arlington’s jockeys will be collecting donations from among their peers to donate to the cause and Arlington International Racecourse will match the amount of money raised by the colony.

Among the jockeys committed to running or walking in the Homestretch for Herores 5K are Sheldon Russell, Chris Emigh, Emmanuel Esquivel, Santo Sanjur, Joel Campbell, Rolando Aragon and Maria Thornton.

The Homestretch for Heroes is a unique and exciting race that takes place on the grounds of Arlington International Racecourse and finishes with the final ½-mile on the actual racetrack. The race will be called by Arlington’s track announcer John Dooley and there will be a live call to post when the race begins at 6:30 p.m.  Win, Place and Show awards will be presented to the first, second and third-place finishers (male and female) in the track’s Winner’s Circle.

Individuals can register to run or walk in the Homestretch for Heroes 5K online at https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=7F2V0J7.
