Lawrence Goichman's Alluring Angel took command early and held on late to secure her first graded win in Saturday's Grade 3, $250,000 Long Island, an 11-furlong inner turf test for fillies and mares 3 years old and up, at Aqueduct.

Trained by Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, the 5-year-old Fastnet Rock bay entered from a rallying one-length third to subsequent Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf contender Village Voice in the Grade 3 Waya over course and distance Oct. 5. She took the lead before the half-mile under Kendrick Carmouche on her way to victory.

“It was actually Mr. Goichman that suggested going long,” said Mott, who won his third Long Island following past scores with Yokama in 1998 and Starformer in 2012.

Alluring Angel emerged well from post 6 to track Waya runner-up Beach Bomb through an opening quarter-mile in 24.43 seconds over the firm turf. Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano attempted to slow things down aboard Beach Bomb. Alluring Angel, sporting blinkers for the second consecutive race, took command passing the wire for the first time to mark the half-mile in 51.12.

Alluring Angel rattled off fractions of 1:17.29 and 1:41.84 down the backside and into the third turn while taking pressure from Fun With Flags as Beach Bomb saved ground from third position. When straightened for home, Alluring Angel ran on and built a three-length lead by the stretch call.

A pair of Graham Motion-trained rivals made late runs, Beach Bomb to the inside of the Jorge Ruiz-piloted No Show Sammy Jo coming from farther back. Despite drifting out in the lane, Alluring Angel was home free for a 1 1/4-length victory over No Show Sammy Jo in a final time of 2:17.07.

Beach Bomb was a half-length back in third, with Grayosh rounding out the superfecta. Way to Be Marie, Fun With Flags, Alimara, Amber Cascade, Lady Firefoot and Brocknardini completed the order of finish. The Mott-trained Immensitude was scratched along with main track-only entrants Bernietakescharge and Purloin.

Motion said No Show Sammy Jo, who was defeated a nose in this event last year by Be Your Best, was game in her rally from last of nine early.

“That’s how she ran here last year, so we let her do the same thing and she almost got there again,” said Motion, who added that Beach Bomb was a bit unlucky. “Javier is kind of kicking himself – he thought that Alluring Angel was being a bit rank, and he probably should have gone on, but he was worried about getting hooked up. They both ran super.”

Bred in Great Britain by Michael Wates, Alluring Angel, a $67,450 purchase at the 2020 Tattersalls December Foal sale, is a full-sister to multiple Group 1-placed I Can Fly out of the Teofilo mare All of Me. Her second dam, Madonna Dell'orto, is a half-sister to dual Grade/Group 1-winner Landseer. She banked $137,500 in victory while improving her record to 13: 4-1-2 and returning $17.82 for a $2 win bet.

Tiz Dashing conquers Hill Prince

Tiz Dashing notched his first stakes win for Sackatoga Stable with a neck victory Saturday in the Grade 3, $200,000 Hill Prince, a 1 1/8-mile inner turf test for 3-year-olds at Aqueduct.

The Barclay Tagg-trained colt, who debuted with a maiden score in September 2024 at Belmont at the Big A, had been competitive but winless in seven subsequent starts. Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano guided the son of New York-bred Tiz the Law from the outermost post in a nine-horse field.

Noble Confessor led through fractions of 23.34 seconds, 48.46 and 1:12.37 on firm turf. Tiz Dashing stalked within range and found room outside in the stretch. He overtook Lazlo and the re-engaging Noble Confessor before holding on in 1:48.23.

Noble Confessor, with Kendrick Carmouche aboard, finished 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Church and State for second. Lazlo took fourth, followed by Soleil Volant, Mayor of Midnight, Griffin’s Wharf, 4-5 favorite Stars and Strides and Thundering.

Tiz Dashing launched his career with a neck maiden win at the Big A 14 months ago. He finished second in the listed Awad to end his juvenile season. The sophomore placed third in the one-mile Manila (G3) in July on Saratoga turf and elevated to third at the same distance and track in the Hall of Fame (G2) on Aug. 1.

Tiz Dashing finished eighth last out in the one-mile listed Gun Runner in September at Kentucky Downs. He relished the return to New York and the stretch to a career-long 1 1/8 miles.

“Javier gave him a spectacular ride – it was exactly what we had hoped for, put him in a nice spot,” said Jack Knowlton of Sackatoga Stable. “A mile and an eighth – we weren’t sure – it’s the longest he’s gone, but we decided to take a shot. He’s had some bad luck, getting the 13 post out at Kentucky Downs and he was only beaten 4 1/2 lengths, but he came out of it well and we’re really happy to get a Grade 3 win."

Off at 7-1, Tiz Dashing returned $17.46 on a $2 win bet. He boosted his earnings to $292,207.

Noble Confessor, trained by Todd Pletcher, entered off a second to Asbury Park in the Jockey Club Derby (G2) on Oct. 4. He added blinkers for this start.

“He was running good,” Carmouche said. “I thought he would fight back at the end, but I thought he’d get away from those horses to help me a little. He just never helped me. Once he saw that horse in front, he wanted to re-engage, but that was too late. Second best.”
