The New York Racing Association canceled live racing at Aqueduct on Friday because of high winds forecast to affect the New York City metropolitan area.

The National Weather Service placed southern Queens under a wind advisory beginning at 12 p.m. EDT, with forecasts calling for sustained high winds and gusts in excess of 45 mph.

Two listed $150,000 stakes originally scheduled for Friday, the Tempted and the Pumpkin Pie, have been rescheduled. The Tempted will now be run on Thursday with entries taken Friday, Oct. 31. The Pumpkin Pie will be run on next Saturday with entries taken on Sunday.

Aqueduct will remain open for simulcasting Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate the Breeders’ Cup program from Del Mar.

Live racing also was canceled Thursday at Aqueduct because of a powerful storm that generated extremely high winds and rainfall of more than 2.5 inches.

The Belmont at the Big A fall meet will resume Saturday with a 10-race card featuring the listed Nashua and listed Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship. First post is 12:05 p.m.
