The New York Racing Association canceled live racing at Aqueduct on Thursday because of high winds forecasted for the New York City area throughout the day.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the New York City area through 10 p.m. EST Thursday. A northwest wind of 20 to 30 mph is expected with gusts of up to 50 mph.

Friday is expected to be breezy, with wind speeds of 10 to 20 mph.

The weekend forecast called for a chance of snow early Saturday and a sunny Sunday.

The only stakes scheduled for this weekend at Aqueduct is the listed Ladies for fillies and mares 4 years old and up going 1 1/8 miles on the dirt.

Among other weather-related track closures, Oaklawn canceled racing for Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of a wintry forecast.
