Aqueduct adds card to make up for Sunday cancellation
The New York Racing Association added of one day of live racing next Wednesday as part of the fall meet at Aqueduct.
After the cancellation of live racing after the completion of race 1 on Sunday NYRA, the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and New York Thoroughbred Breeders requested and received formal approval from the New York State Gaming Commission for the additional day of racing.
The Sunday card was canceled after the first race after jockeys refused to ride following the first race because of a dispute over the duties of the clerk of scales and assistant clerk of scales.
Entries for next Wednesday's card will be taken on Thursday, December 4.
The Aqueduct fall meet, which began Nov. 6 through and runs through Dec. 31, is highlighted by the Grade 2, $500,000 Cigar Mile for 3-year-olds and up on Saturday. It is the final graded stakes of the year on the NYRA circuit and the last of six stakes races on the card.
