Heavily favoured Amis Gizmo made it three stakes in succession with a front-running score in Wednesday night's $125,000 Frost King Stakes, at Woodbine.

Trained by Josie Carroll and expertly ridden by Luis Contreras, the Ivan Dalos homebred son of Giant Gizmo-Victorious Ami debuted with a dramatic last-to-first run to nose out Conquest Twister in the 6 1/2-furlong Simcoe Stakes.  The talented chestnut then stalked and pounced to a 3 1/2-length win in the Bull Page Stakes, setting up a prominent effort in Wednesday’s seven furlong Frost King Stakes for Ontario-sired juveniles.

Amis Gizmo broke sharply in the Frost King and took command through splits of :23.30 and :46.24, while pressured by Vandal Stakes winner Ruth Less Blue and rider Michelle Rainford.

Ruth Less Blue put a head in front into the turn as Ultraflame, with Patrick Husbands up, rallied into contention from third position. However, there was no catching Amis Gizmo who led the field into the stretch run and raced home a comfortable five-length winner under light handling. Ultraflame was up for place by 3 ¾-lengths over Ruth Less Blue.  Amis Gizmo covered seven furlongs in 1:22.69.

Carroll was pleased with the effort of the undefeated colt.

"I think he's a really versatile horse and this track was playing very much for speed today," said Carroll. "We knew we had a horse that had enough talent to be there. I left it Luis. I said (to Contreras) 'Be where you need to be, but I think we need to be close.' When the horse broke as well as he did and was comfortable on the lead, I wasn't terribly concerned."

Amis Gizmo banked $75,000 in victory while remaining undefeated through three career starts.

He paid $2.50 and $2.10, combining with Ultraflame ($2.90) for a $6 (4-1) exactor. A 4-1-3 triactor (Ruth Less Blue) was worth $13.80. Show wagering was not offered.
