With live racing on the NYRA circuit set to return at Belmont Park on June 3, this week's broadcast will be highlighted by a pair of graded races from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Grade 3, $100,000 Winning Colors, a six-furlong sprint for older fillies and mares features a field of nine led by the speedy graded-stakes winner Break Even and horse-for-course Mia Mischief, who boasts five wins from eight starts on the Churchill Downs main track including a win in the 2019 Grade 1 Humana Distaff.
Trained by Brad Cox, Klein Racing's Break Even has won seven-of-nine career starts. The 4-year-old Country Day filly made the grade in the 2019 Grade 2 Eight Belles on a sloppy Churchill Downs main track. Joel Rosario has the call from Post 2.
Stonestreet Stables' Mia Mischief, a five-year-old Into Mischief mare, rides a three-race win streak into the Winning Colors for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, led by a last-out score in the Carousel on April 25 at Oaklawn Park.
Both of Mia Mischief's graded-stakes scores have come at Churchill Downs including a victory in the 2018 Grade 2 Eight Belles. Ricardo Santana, Jr. will pilot Mia Mischief from Post 9.
Closing out Saturday's 11-race card from Churchill Downs is the Grade 3, $100,000 Mint Julep, a 1 1/16-miles turf route for older fillies and mares led by the Brad Cox-trained duo of Beau Recall and Juliet Foxtrot.
Slam Dunk Racing and Medallion Racing's millionaire Beau Recall earned a career-best 103 Beyer Speed Figure last May when winning the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile. The 6-year-old Sir Prancealot bay will make her seasonal debut under Shaun Bridgmohan from Post 2.
Juddmonte Farms' Juliet Foxtrot has posted back-to-back triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures while completing the exacta (100 Beyer) in the Grade 1 First Lady in October at Keeneland and staying on for third (101 Beyer) last out in the Grade 1 Matriarch in December at Del Mar. The Dansili bay made the grade in the Grade 3 Modesty in July at Arlington Park. Florent Geroux will pilot Juliet Foxtrot from the inside post.
