Seven-time Fair Grounds riding champion Robby Albarado posted the second five-win day by a rider at the meet Saturday, working his way into the winner’s circle in half of the day’s races. Jockey Leandro Goncalves rode five winners on the December 28 card.

“It was a great day,” said Albarado. “I was well-mounted, and every horse I was on had a real chance. You still have to go out and win the race, but they all ran really well for me today.”

Albarado posted his first score of the day in the opener aboard Keith Desormeaux trainee Classified ($3.60) for Chicago 8 LLC and soon notched his second tally with Loooch Racing Stable’s Bump Bump ($8.00) in the day’s fourth race on the turf for trainer Tom Amoss.

Later, Albarado piloted Carl Raabe’s Reina de Diamantes ($5.00) to a ¾-length victory in Saturday’s sixth race for Morris Nicks before adding a fourth feather to his cap in the featured Red Camelia with Brent Gasaway et. al’s I Dazzle ($4.60) for trainer Mike Stidham.

Charles Fipke’s debuting Soul Pilot ($5.20), conditioned by Dallas Stewart, provided Albarado with his fifth win on the card in the day’s ninth race
