Alabama Stakes 2016: Odds and Picks
The $600,000 Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga this Saturday will be highlighted by champion Songbird. Six other three-year-old fillies will take on the undefeated daughter of Medaglia d’Oro in the 1 ¼ miles test. Songbird, the 2015 Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old Filly, seeks her 10th victory in as many starts for Fox Hill Farms, Inc. The Alabama will be her second race at Saratoga following her Coaching Club American Oaks win by 5 ¼ lengths over Carina Mia. The young superstar will try to defy the Graveyard of Champions once again with Mike Smith in the irons. Conditioned by Jerry Hollendorfer, the talented Songbird goes into the Alabama as the heavy morning line favorite.
Second choice Go Maggie Go is the only other filly whose morning line odds are not in the double digits. Trained by Dale Romans, the lightly raced Go Maggie Go has three wins in five starts, including victories in the Gulfstream Park Oaks and the Black-Eyed Susan. Luis Saez will be aboard the Mike Tarp homebred.
