JOCKEY Frankie Dettori nominated African Story as his best chance of a winner on the star-studded card on Saturday and his mount lived up to the billing as he stormed clear to land the opener at Meydan in a race sponsored by his owners.
African Story, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor, took up the running coming into the home straight and unleashed a blistering turn of foot to score by four lengths from the running-on Viscount Nelson, with the Charlie Hills-trained Red Jazz in third.
The result provided Bin Suroor with his ninth victory in the contest. It was also Godolphin's fourth straight success in the race.
