Afleet Again rumbled down the Churchill stretch to win Saturday's Breeders' Cup Marathon in a stunning result.
The Marathon pace was quicker than expected and Birdrun was the only early runner around at the finish. The Mott trainee got the place nod over Giant Oak.
Cease took the lead around the far turn and had control of the race in the lane but did not have the stamina to outlast the top three. Early runner Pleasant Prince came back to outfinish Cease for the bottom of the superfecta.
Afleet Again, trained by Robert Reid and ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, paid a whopping $85.20 to win.
