The Stronach Family’s Adena Springs, winner of the Eclipse Award as North America’s outstanding breeder for a record five consecutive years, will sponsor Keeneland’s Beaumont Stakes (G2) in 2015.

With the sponsorship, the purse for the Beaumont, to be held Sunday, April 12, will increase from $200,000 to $250,000.

“Adena Springs represents excellence in Thoroughbred breeding and racing, and we are very proud to welcome them to the Keeneland family,” said Keeneland Vice President of Racing

W. B. Rogers Beasley.

The Beaumont, a race for 3-year-old fillies run over the Beard Course of seven furlongs, 184 feet, is named for the Beaumont Farm of Hal Price Headley, one of Keeneland’s founders and the track’s first President. Since the race was first run in 1986, winners include Racing Hall of Famer Go for Wand (1990), champion Xtra Heat (2001) and additional Grade 1 winners Classy Cathy, Roamin Rachel, In the Gold, Franny Freud, Turbulent Descent, Ariege and Diplomat Lady.

“Adena Springs has an extensive network of supporters and clients in Central Kentucky, and this sponsorship provides the opportunity to host our guests in a unique and distinct environment, while enjoying an exciting day of racing in the Bluegrass. We look forward to working with the staff at Keeneland, and creating a memorable event for all,” said Adena Springs General Manager Eoin Ryan.

Adena Springs has a 2,400-acre farm near Paris, Ky., that will stand eight stallions in 2015, including 1998 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Awesome Again and his Breeders’ Cup Classic-winning son, Racing Hall of Famer Ghostzapper. Adena Springs/Frank Stronach has earned a total of eight Eclipse Awards as outstanding breeder, while Frank Stronach has received four Eclipse Awards in his own name as outstanding owner.

At Keeneland, Stronach, his wife, Elfriede, and their children Andrew and Belinda, have campaigned numerous stakes winners singly and in partnership, including 1981 Spinster (G1) winner Glorious Song, co-owned with Nelson Bunker Hunt, and Stronach Stables’ two Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) winners, Perfect Sting (1999) and Collect the Cash (2000).

Adena Springs, a prominent Keeneland sales consignor, also has divisions in Williston, Fla., and Aurora, Ontario, and maintains an adoption and retirement program for its horses.
