Adena Springs’ multiple Grade 1 winner and $3,8 million earner Shaman Ghost is relocating to Adena Springs in Paris, Ky., it was announced Monday. The son of Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, out of the Gilded Time mare Getback Time, stood this past season in California at Lovacres Ranch and bred 92 mares in his first year at stud.

“We were gratified to introduce a stallion of Shaman Ghost’s caliber to California breeders in his first season at stud,” said Frank Stronach. “Now he can join his Hall of Fame sire Ghostzapper in the stall next door.”

On the racetrack, Shaman Ghost accumulated a record of 8-3-2 from 17 starts. He won or placed in seven stakes, including victories in the Woodward (G1), Santa Anita Handicap (G1), Brooklyn Invitational (G2) and the Pimlico Special (G3). He was also second to Champion Arrogate in the inaugural Pegasus Cup at Gulfstream Park.

At age 3, Shaman Ghost won the prestigious Queens Plate, providing Stronach his third victory in the race, and was named Champion 3-year-old in Canada.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to have stood Shaman Ghost and we look forward to the arrival of his first crop next year. We bred some really nice mares to him,” said Terry Lovingier of Lovacres Ranch.

Ben Walden of Adena Springs added, “We are appreciative of Terry and everyone at Lovacres Ranch for their efforts and their results. Mr, Stronach remains exceptionally committed to the California breeding program, and we look to replace Shaman Ghost with another important stallion.”
