Acosta Wins Four at Timonium

Journeyman jockey J.D. Acosta added four winners to the pair he rode on opening day to lead the standings after two days of racing at the Maryland State Fair.

The 32-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, who rides primarily at Charles Town, had mounts in all ten races today and brought home winners in the sixth (Morning Light-$7), seventh (Pluracity $5.80), ninth (Outbacker -$4) and tenth (Edge of Glory $12.60). Pluracity and Edge of Glory won for trainer Hugh McMahon.

Also of note, apprentice jockey Chelsey Keiser rode three winners this afternoon.

Racing resumes on Sunday with a first post of 1:05 p.m. Trainer Gary Capuano goes for his 1,000th  lifetime win with Steady Warrior in tomorrow’s second race.
