A. P. Indian and Limousine Liberal both doing well Saturday morning

Green Lantern Stables’ A. P. Indian and Katherine Ball’s Limousine Liberal, who finished a nose apart in track-record time in Friday’s Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G2), were both doing well Saturday morning.
“He looks good this morning and ate up everything last night,” trainer Arnaud Delacour said of A. P. Indian, who extended his 2016 undefeated streak to six with Friday’s triumph. “He will leave Sunday afternoon to go back to Fair Hill (training center in Maryland).”
The Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix was a “Win and You’re In” challenge race for the $1.5 TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita on Nov. 5. However, A. P. Indian already had secured a fees-paid berth by virtue of his victory in the Forego (G1) at Saratoga.
“I have to get with the shipping company, but we will probably wait until the last flight (to California),” Delacour said of his Breeders’ Cup plans. “If he can have his last work at Fair Hill that would be perfect.”
Friday’s 1:08.43 clocking for six furlongs broke the year-old track standard established by Runhappy in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
“Looking back, I don’t think he ran that hard,” Delacour said. “He is a smart horse. When he made the lead, he knew his job was done.”
As for Liberal Limousine, trainer Ben Colebrook said “he’s doing better than all of us this morning. That was the toughest defeat I’ve ever seen.”
Limousine Liberal had made the lead at midstretch and then fought back when he was passed by A. P. Indian to just miss.
“I thought he was beat and then he came back,” Colebrook said. “I looked at one angle and thought we had got it. I don’t know (about the Breeders’ Cup). The jock (Jose Ortiz) wants to go. Maybe Arnaud will give us one of his ‘Win and You’re Ins’ so we won’t have to pay our way.”
