As the world around horse racing changes, this weekend the on-track offerings remain the same as a few dedicated circuits forge on, running behind closed doors and with enhanced safety measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Five U.S. tracks -- three with Thoroughbred meets and two Quarter Horse circuits -- are scheduled to race this weekend, while the overseas highlight races will be run in Hong Kong.
We recommend playing through TVG, where new members can make a $300 risk-free bet. Also check out Today's Best Bet for daily wagering tips.
Domestically, cards are set at the following tracks into the weekend with first post time listed in Eastern. Click for entries and morning line odds.
Here's what to watch for...
• A pair of Saturday stakes at Oaklawn Park mark stakes returns for Grade 1 returns. First, Eight Rings will go postward for the first time since the Breeders' Cup Juvenile in the $100,000 Bachelor for 3-year-olds at six furlongs. Next, Mia Mischief and Bellafina lead the way in the $125,000 Carousel for older fillies and mores, also at six furlongs.
• Elsewhere Saturday, Gulfstream Park's $75,000 Unbridled Stakes offers a chance for 3-year-olds to transition on to the Triple Crown trail. Favored is a last out Todd Pletcher-trained winner, Dr Post, while Americanus, Relentless Dancer, South Bend and Attachment Rate have some Derby prep experience of their own already.
• Overnight into Sunday, Sha Tin in Hong Kong will host its Champions Day complete with three Group 1 races: the Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Chairman's Sprint Prize and Champions Mile, with Hong Kong champion Beauty Generation headlining the latter event.
