Nominations closed Sunday for the Grade 1, $1 million Florida Derby with 32 names tossed in the hat for the April 2 event, which offers 100-40-20-10 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers.

Todd Pletcher leads all trainers with six nominations: Charge It, Emmanuel, Major General, Mo Donegal, Pioneer of Medina and Swing Shift.

Bob Baffert has no nominations.

Here's what we know about the likely starters.

Pletcher confirmed Tuesday that he plans to enter Charge It, who barely lost to Volcanic in his debut and then dominated his next race at a mile.

Mark Casse nominated Glider, Golden Glider, Pappacap and Volcanic. He told Horse Racing Nation this week that Pappacap will start in the Florida Derby, with the others going to other Kentucky Derby preps. (More on that here.)

Saffie Joseph Jr. nominated A. P.'s Secret, Skippylongstocking and White Abarrio, but only the latter is solid for the Florida Derby. Joseph told HRN Tuesday that he expects to decide on Sunday or Monday where the others will go.

Fountain of Youth (G2) winner Simplification is expected to start for trainer Antonio Sano, and Shipsational is expected for Edward Barker.

Kenny McPeek nominated Smile Happy but said on Monday that he instead will go to the Blue Grass (G1).

Classic Causeway also is expected to start in the Blue Grass, according to trainer Brian Lynch.

Another nominee who won't be in the Florida Derby is Slow Down Andy, the morning-line favorite for the Sunland Derby (G3) on Sunday.

Supplemental nominations may be made until entries close on March 30 for the April 2 race.
