$20,000 Travers Day Game Winner Spelled Victory with VE Day

It was VE Day to victory for Eric Moomey in Saturday's $20,000 Travers Day game on DerbyWars!

Moomey, a longtime DerbyWars player and frequent big game winner, had last seen the top of the leaderboard in a $10K game earlier this year. But in the Travers, "moomeyer" picked VE Day and jumped into the top spot once again!
Moomey's final score was $113.40 to win the $9,000 cash prize and secure a spot in the $100K game happening this weekend!

Runner-up was Frank Polk (blaster) at $101, who also picked VE Day in the Travers. Richard Wojcieski (wywo2009) was third, scoring $86.80, while Brian Herrity (brianh) was 4th with a final score of $78.40 - the third and fourth place finishers were also keyed into VE Day.
The Top 4 finishers all won cash prizes as well as seats in the $100K game.

On DerbyWars, players can see exactly how many others have picked each horse in the race. Here's the Travers pick chart:

Only 13 players picked VE Day, but it made a big difference in the contest results - 9 of the top 10 finishers had him among their plays! Interestingly, Ulanbator, the longest shot in the field, got NO picks - proving that some longshots can be too much of a bomb even for contest players!

More Players Qualify for the $100K

On Sunday, 10 more players qualified for the $100K in the Super Q that featured the Pacific Classic: Jams McCarthy (presidioheights), Lisa Cipriano (HiHoSilver), Larry Rush (maverick), Roberto Bertolucci (rberto), Mike Yarusso (mike_y), Chris Skinner (skinzpicks), Matt Milligan (tracksidejive), Wade Jones (wjonesasu) and Dewey Petty (dewey p).

Check out this video for a rundown of some more $100K entrants, including a few "celebrity" players!

You still have a shot at the $50,000 First Prize this weekend - but you've got to play a Super Q to do it! Entry is as little as $11 for a Round 1 contest, and those happen every day.
