2018 Kentucky Derby odds: McKinzie's the second choice
Following a weekend that saw a number of new names stamp themselves as contenders on the 2018 Kentucky Derby trail, the Wynn Las Vegas released updated odds for next year’s race at Churchill Downs.
In its first listings since Dec. 7 — before the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity — the top-three finishers from that races saw their prices drop: McKinzie (from 20-1 to the 11-1 second choice); Instilled Regard (from 125-1 to 65-1); and Solomini (from 30-1 to 18-1).
More recently, $2 million purchase Marconi overcame a troubled trip to break his maiden Friday at Aqueduct. His odds plummeted from 125-1 to 50-1.
On Saturday, Principe Guilherme stretched to two turns and won a Fair Grounds allowance by open lengths. With a try at stakes next, his odds moved from 45-1 to 20-1.
And on Sunday, Greyvitos took an outside trip to the winner’s circle in the $400,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park. Having entered the weekend 175-1, he’s now 60-1.
Overall, the early Derby favorite four and a half months out from the 2018 Derby is Bolt d’Oro at 7-1, while Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Good Magic sits a 14-1 third choice.
