2009 Oklahoma Bred Champions

On Saturday Aug 14th, the Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association held its 25th Annual Awards Banquet to present the 2009 Champions.  The evening consisted of dinner, silent and live auctions, and presentation of OHRC Oklahoma Bred awards and those selected by the OTA.  The event was very well attended, and had to be moved from the Eclipse Suite to a larger area at Remington Park.

The champions as selected by the OTA, were 2 year old Colt or Gelding Pleasant Storm, 2 year old Filly Shotgun Gulch. The 3 year old Colt or Gelding was Hollywood Hit.  The 3 year old Filly winner was Peach Brew. The older male champion was Marq French, and the older female winner was Skedee.

Champion Sprinter was Herecomesthemannow, Champion Turf Horse was Skedee.  The OTA selected Rosieville as the broodmare of the year, and Burbank as the Champion Stallion.

Selected as the breeder of the year was Center Hills Farm.  The top award of the evening was for Horse of the Year which was presented to Peach Brew, owned by Dr. Robert Zoellner of Tulsa, Ok.

C.R. Trout was the biggest winner of the evening with Champion 2 year old filly, Champion 3 year old colt, and Broodmare of Year.

John Lowder picked up two awards for Champion older mare, and champion Turf horse.
