Miss Tapirado, who topped Keeneland’s 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale of April 2019, finished last of seven in her debut Sunday at Churchill Downs.

Prince Sultan bin Mishal al Sau purchased Miss Tapirado for $1.3 million last April. He campaigns the 3-year-old Tapit filly, who is out of Artie Schiller mare My Conquestadory.

Nineteen months after her seven-figure purchase, Miss Tapirado finally entered the starting gates Sunday for the first time at Churchill. The Bill Mott trainee faced six others in a one-mile maiden special weight race over a sloppy track.

Miss Tapirado broke slowly from the outside post No. 7 under jockey Florent Geroux. She raced wide along the backstretch and turn, coming four-wide into the lane.

The high-priced filly was unable to make any challenge, falling back to finish seventh.

Financial One, meanwhile, navigated through the slop to make a stretch run and secure a first win in three starts. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione piloted the Malibu Moon filly for trainer Chad Brown.
