Wise Dan doing well, “Real Well” (VIDEO)

While American Pharoah, the first Triple Crown in 37 years, is understandably dominating the lion's share of the headlines in racing these days, and even the hotshot turf filly Lady Eli is capturing her share of press, we should never forget about a certain two-time Horse of the Year, getting closer to his return with the passing of each warm summer day. I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Wise Dan today at his home base of Keeneland. It was my first time seeing the champ since his stirring victory in last fall's Shadwell Mile, and let me tell you, Dan still looks very much like the man.

His personable trainer, Charlie LoPresti, was kind enough to answer all my questions about the two-time Breeders' Cup Mile winner, and offered up plenty of tidbits about his star runner, some of which I had never heard before. In other words, buckle your seatbelts, all you Wise Dan fans, this is one interview you do not want to miss!

And don't forget to tune in each week for Horse Racing Nation's HorseCenter with Brian and Matt for all the latest news and insights!
