Who Am I ???

Photo:

*My owner purchased my dam in foal with yours truly for a mere $2,300.

*All of my first 48 races were run at four different tracks in the same state.

*Outside of that state, I went undefeated in one lifetime start, taking a Grade 2 by a nose.

*The biggest victory of my career was the fifth in a six-race winning streak.

*I delayed the running of that prestigious Grade 1 race by breaking through the gate with an assistant starter in tow.

*A winner of better than 50% of my career starts, I won at least one race in five straight seasons.

*I was neither a chestnut nor a bay, and my breeding could easily be called obscure.

*I won the only Derby I ever entered, but it was not the most famous one.

*My favorite racetrack was the host of 19 of my career victories.

*That oval was also the site of my two track record breaking performances, accomplished six days apart.

*In my career finale, I was off the board for only the second time in my last two dozen starts, while the year’s Kentucky Derby winner finished 1st.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???
