Race Clue #1 -  A field of ten competed in the $500,000 race, but in the end it came down to the two favorites.

Race Clue #2 - The race, inaugurated nearly a century ago, has been run on different weeks, different distances, and at three different race tracks.

Race Clue #3 - This edition’s winner shipped in from Florida, while the runner-up was a returning local.

Race Clue #4 - The top two, who were both 5-2 on the toteboard, were separated by a couple of lengths at the wire, with no one else close.

Race Clue #5 - The winner won two Derbies in his three-year-old season, but neither was in Kentucky.

Race Clue #6 - The runner-up would go on to win back-to-back Grade 1 races, although one was via DQ.

Race Clue #7 - The race winner also finished in the money in two legs of the Triple Crown.

Race Clue #8 - While the winner was bred in Kentucky, the 2nd place finisher was running in his home state.

Race Clue #9 - The 1st, 2nd, and 8th-place finishers all became racing millionaires.

Race Clue #10 - All three would go on to compete in the Breeders’ Cup, although all in different races.

You should know it by now … Tell me the race and the year!
