Mr. Jordan Spieth by a Nose
Youth, heart, and perseverance were served on opposite ends of the United States today. No matter whether you are a fan of golf, of horse racing, or both, you were delivered a healthy dose of the dramatic, as both the Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes, and the U.S. Open came down to heart pounding finishes. And in the end, it was Jordan, (Mr.) and (Spieth) who came out on top.
On the New Jersey shore at Monmouth Park, Mr. Jordan faced a full field of three-year-olds in a prep for the million dollar Haskell Invitational.
On the Puget Sound at Chambers Bay, Jordan Spieth faced a full field of the best golfers in the world in our national championship.
Each Jordan put themselves in good position throughout the contest, not always in the lead, but in a nice spot where they could show their class in the late going. Each Jordan was poised to strike heading into the stretch run, and sure enough, they were each able to push to the lead in the stretch.
Neither Jordan was perfect, though, as both went a little too far right. Mr. Jordan in midstretch, and Jordan Spieth on the par 3 seventeenth hole. Dustin Johnson and Tekton both looked poised to take advantage, but alas it was not meant to be for that pair. Mr. Jordan and Jordan Spieth had the heart to get it done in dramatic finishes to the wire.
Jordan Spieth, at 21, is the youngest man to win a second major in nearly a hundred years. Mr. Jordan is a talented youngster, who is now the owner of an excellent 6-4-2-0 record, including three stakes wins.
Golf or Horse Racing. East Coast or West Coast. It was truly Jordan’s day, and fans of both sports were treated to a pair of thrilling finishes. Somewhere, the greatest champion of all, Michael Jordan, must have been smiling.
