As one of the top contenders for Kentucky Derby 2017, the Ian Wilkes trained McCraken has had the focus of the racing world on him since the turn of the new year. The bay son of Ghostzapper lived up to his reputation with an impressive win at Tampa Bay Downs to begin his three-year-old campaign.

His journey back to Churchill Downs met a bump in the road, though, when he suffered a minor physical setback preparing for the Tampa Bay Derby. Back healthy, but fresh, the three-time stakes winner went down to defeat for the first time when he finished third in the Blue Grass Stakes. Will he bounce back on Derby Day?

Watch now, as we visit McCraken this morning at Churchill Downs. The Janis Whitham owned bay looks the part of a happy, healthy horse, who is feeling good. We also speak with Wilkes about his star, 13 days before the most important race of his career.
