Jenda's Agenda impresses like Mom

Just Jenda was a very good filly for Larry and Cindy Jones. She won seven stakes races in a career that spanned 17 lifetime races over three seasons of racing. The daughter of Menifee went out a winner in 2010, winning the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher Stakes at Monmouth Park by 3 1/2-lengths in her career finale. Certainly a success on the track, she gives every indication that she will be a success as a broodmare, as well.

The career of her daughter has started as smoothly as could be. Jenda's Agenda, a three-year-old filly, is owned in partnership by Fox Hill Farm and Larry and Cindy Jones. She is also a product of the mating of Proud Citizen and Just Jenda. While her dam was a prolific stakes winner, her sire is best remembered for finishing second behind War Emblem in the 2002 Kentucky Derby.

Trained by Larry Jones, Jenda's Agenda raised her record to two-for-two today with her second straight impressive victory at Fair Grounds. Running her competition off their feet, the bay filly rolled home by more than six lengths in career debut on January 7, when completing a fast six furlongs. Today's win, in allowance company, did not produce the same type of winning margin, but it nonetheless was a performance that promises of bigger things.

Sent off at 3-5 because of that impressive debut, Jenda's Agenda stretched out to one mile and 70 yards today against a compact field of fillies. Setting all the pace, the talented filly was asked the question by another impressive first-out winner, Stonetacular, at the head of the stretch, but it was soon clear that the Fox Hill/Jones filly was too good.

Cruising down the lane under little to no urging from her rider, Gabriel Saez, Jenda's Agenda hit the wire one-length in front in a final time of 1:43.51. Don't be confused by the final margin, it was easier than the margin would suggest. Pointing out the quality of the performance, Stonetacular finished more than ten lengths clear of the third-place runner, and also looks like a filly with a bright future.

Much like Just Jenda announced herself as one to watch nearly nine years ago, so has her daughter by Proud Citizen. In excellent hands, look for Jenda's Agenda to join her dam as a stakes winner sooner, rather than later.

Oh, and by the way, Just Jenda also has a two-year-old Old Fashioned colt named Just Old School coming to the races soon, and a yearling filly by Majesticperfection to look forward to.
