It's a Boy! - Rachel Alexandra's First Foal
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
I am thrilled to announce that my favorite horse in 40 years of watching the races, Rachel Alexandra, has given birth to her first foal. The bay colt with a white star for a blaze was born at 2:40 pm today, January 22 at Stonestreet Farm. A son of Curlin, the yet to be named 125 pound colt is the product of two of the greatest horses of the 21st century. His parents accounted for three consecutive Horse of the Year awards respectively, (Curlin in 2007 and 2008, and Rachel Alexandra in 2009.) He has a lot to live up to, but I am sure he will be a horse we can all root for. Please join me in giving him the warmest welcome into the world.
Thanks to Stonestreet Farm for the timely update and the fantastic photos.
