Remember the name Dak Attack. The well put together son of Ghostzapper looks to have a big future. Today, he made plenty of believers out of those who saw him stride home an impressive winner of the Ellis Park Juvenile.
One of three top two-year-olds unveiled recently by trainer Dale Romans for the Albaugh Family Stable, along with Free Drop Billy and Hollywood Star, this unbeaten $625,000 yearling purchase may just be the best of the bunch.
Today's win at Ellis Park was a handy three-length score in a strong time of 1:22.96. He had previously won his career debut, also impressively, at Churchill Downs on June 15. Dak Attack (Ghostzapper--Indian Spell, by Indian Charlie) has all the makings of a horse to watch for Kentucky Derby 2018.
She was not impressive as Dak Attack, but Kelly's Humor is also perfect in two career starts after upsetting the Ellis Park Debutatnte at odds of 11-1. Trained by Brad Cox, the dark bay filly rolled down the middle of the track to run by Upset Brewing late for a one-length score in 1:24.63.
Kelly's Humor (Midnight Lute--Cauy's Humor, by Distorted Humor) broke her maiden right here at Ellis Park four weeks ago, and is owned by Dawn and Ike Thrash.
Speaking of two-year-olds, keep an eye out for this one. Beautiful Game (Even The Score) was an impressive first-out winner for the Steve Asmussen barn. The bay colt won his debut by four lengths in racehorse time of 1:04.28 for the 5 1/2-furlongs.

The big field got off to a very smooth and even start.
The famous water tower at Ellis Park.
The picturesque picnic area would fill up soon after this photo was taken.
The best finish of the day saw a 21-1 winner in the second.
A pretty little paddock helps give Ellis Park plenty of charm.
Looking out from the grandstand on a warm, but enjoyable day at the Pea Patch.
If my math is good, we are five years away from a big anniversary at Ellis Park.
I hope you enjoyed these photos from the little gem in Henderson, Kentucky. If you've never been to Ellis Park, or the 'Pea Patch' as it is affectionately known, I highly recommend a visit.
