Fear not California Chrome fans, your racing hero is doing well. In fact, he’s thriving. Thanks to the wonderful hospitality of the good folks at Taylor Made, I, along with a couple of my Horse Racing Nation colleagues, Ember Marr and Candice Curtis, had the great opportunity of spending a morning with the 2014 Horse of the Year this week. And … we shot lots of video!

Plenty was learned about all the latest on California Chrome in my discussion with the Taylor Made President and CEO, Duncan Taylor. Some of the more interesting points discussed during our morning at the farm, include:

- His recovery from bone bruising is going very well, and he is on schedule to return to California and Art and Alan Sherman sometime in late October.

- California Chrome’s next scheduled X-ray, to make sure everything is progressing perfectly in his recuperation will be in a few weeks.

- Taylor Made is very excited about seeing California Chrome run next year, rather than simply ushering him off to a stallion career.

- A second straight raid on the world’s richest race, the Dubai World Cup, is the major goal for the first half of 2016.

- They truly believe that California Chrome has all the ingredients to carry over his success on the track to the breeding shed.

California Chrome is thriving in this time away from the daily grind -- just take a look! And don’t forget, Taylor Made will also be opening their doors to the general public for special California Chrome visitations. In fact, these opportunities to spend time with the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, scheduled for September 25-27, were met with such enthusiasm, that more opportunities may be scheduled in the near future. In the meantime, enjoy the video!
