Bodemeister will undergo tests at Rood and Riddle

That didn’t take long. Only a few minutes after I broke the news of Bodemeister’s trip to Kentucky, “Bodemeister done for the year? A reliable source has informed me that he is due to arrive at WinStar Farm today,” Owner, Ahmed Zayat followed with this comment on Twitter, "Bode arrived at WinStar for diagnostic procedure. He has an appointment tomorrow at [Rood and Riddle] to tell us what's wrong with him."

Ahh the power of Twitter. I’m not sure if Mr. Zayat planned to let the world know of his star’s whereabouts at this time, but if my tweet prompted the transparency, then I’m glad.

Zayat went on to say, "No one here in [California] knows what's wrong with him."

So the bottom line here is that one of the most talented horses in the nation will undergo a diagnostic procedure this week at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington due to a yet to be diagnosed illness. Bodemeister is currently at nearby WinStar Farm, (where he will stand at stud in the future) and will ship from the farm to Rood and Riddle sometime tomorrow.
This leaves racing fans wondering what might have been. It was not that long ago that I’ll Have Another produced one of the most exciting editions of the Triple Crown’s middle jewel in years. We now have to live with the very real possibility that neither talented colt will ever race again after the Preakness.

It is a sad day indeed.
