The Kiddie List - August 12, 2014
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
The
Kiddie List will spotlight the top workers and blue bloods breezing four
furlongs and farther, plus some entries and results. I’ll cover the New York, Kentucky, California
and Florida tracks, and occasionally Arlington, Fair Hill and Monmouth. If a particularly well bred baby shows up
at another track, I’ll include that one as well. Due to the enormous number of
juveniles, some of these names may show up only once or twice. You can find more of this season’s two year
olds on the 2015
Kentucky Derby Contenders and 2015 Kentucky
Oaks Contenders lists.

Miss Mandate (Pioneerof the Nile -
Baba's Mandate, by Full Mandate) (F) $145K (RNA) FTKOCT13; hasn’t shown much in either start. Pioneerof
The Nile’s babies are 0-8 over the Del Mar polytrack. Miss Mandate’s dam is a full sister to the
top handicap horse RON THE GREEK and
the second dam Flambeau is a full sister to the dam of multiple Grade 1 placed MUSKET MAN. Miss Mandate may be slow to mature and the
distance should help. Watch for her when
she switches back to dirt.
Redshirt (Distorted Humor -
Perceive, by A.P. Indy) (F) This Darley homebred was a good third in her debut
at Del Mar. Her unraced dam is a half
to Nashua winner ETCHED and Sham
winner OUT OF BOUNDS. The Second dam
is BC Distaff winner UNBRIDLED ELAINE.
Distorted Humor is a superior Polysire.
Hone In (Smart Strike - Direct Line, by
Tiznow) (F) didn’t show much sprinting in her debut at Woodbine. She has a slow-maturing, two turn pedigree.
Her dam is a stakes winning miler and a half sister to ADIEU, winner of the Frizzette at two and Delaware Oaks at three.
She’s also a half to stakes winners RAPPORT
and SPEAK WISELY, plus the dam of
multiple stakes winning sprinter LAURIE’S
ROCKET.
Awesome Diamond
(Galileo (IRE) -
Adoration, by Honor Grades)(F)
$625KBESMAR14; The daughter of BC
Distaff winner ADORATION was third
in her debut over the Del Mar lawn. None
of her siblings own blacktype and her two full siblings to race have never
won. Neither have her half siblings, who
raced over turf and synthetic.

Tierra Dorada (Colonel John - K. O. Kitty, by
Tale of the Cat) (F) $20K KEESEP13 ;
needed three races to win her maiden, which she did in her last start,
by a neck over eventual Desert Vixen heroine LEAP YEAR LUCK. Tierra
Dorada is a half to multiple stakes placed Syriana's
Song (Indian Charlie), otherwise, there is no blacktype in the first few
generations of her female family. Tierra
Dorada has a slower developing pedigree and should relish two turns.
Artistic Touch (Artie Schiller - Bag
of Stars, by Devil's Bag) (F) $60K OBSMAR14;
After two finishes off of the board, she outclassed maidens by a neck in a dirt
sprint. Gennadi Dorochenko wheeled her
back a few weeks later in the Cassidy Stakes where the daughter of Breeders’
Cup Mile Champ Artie Schiller finished fourth. This
filly has the pedigree to excel over the turf. Her damsire sire is a Champion
full brother to Champion Glorious Song and top sire Saint Ballado. Artistic Touch’s second damsire Nijinsky won
the English Triple Crown. Artistic Touch has similar breeding to the stakes
placed Actionontwo, as both are by
Artie Schiller out of mares by Devil’s Bag. That one is a winner over turf and stakes
placed over Polytrack. Keep an eye on Artistic
Touch is she makes a start over the lawn.

Malibu
Warrior
(Malibu Moon - Alpha Kitten, by Tale of the Cat) (C) $500K KEESEP13; He’s the first foal out of a Grade
2 stakes winner. His second dam is a
half sister to Matron Stakes (G-1) winner MARLYBONE.
That one bore two stakes winners. The Pletcher trainee could win at sprint
distances, but should be more comfortable at a mile and longer.
Bingley (Medaglia d'Oro - Funny Feeling, by
Distorted Humor) (C) $400K FTSAUG13; He’s the first foal out of a stakes
winning sprinter. His dam is a full
sister to Malibu Stakes (G-1) hero JIMMY
CREED, and a half to multiple Grade
1 winner PUSSYCAT DOLL. Bingley’s
second dam is Grade 1 winner HOOKEDONTHEFEELIN.
Multiple Grade 1 winner MIDNIGHT LUCKY
is also part of this female family.
Bingly might handle sprints, but like many in here, he’ll appreciate
going longer.
