Kentucky Derby 2014 - Contender Injury/Missing List

An update on the 2014 Kentucky Derby contenders that are off of the trail, had setbacks, or have not worked out for a month or more. (As of January 29)

                                                                     INJURED 

New Year’s Day – retired with a sesamoid  injury in December 2013.

Electric Eddie – suffered condylar fracture during the California Cup Derby.

SETBACKS

Honor Code – Trainer Shug McGaughey stated that the colt had an ankle problem and missed some works. Will skip the Fountain of Youth, may point towards a race in NY.

Shared Belief – grabbed a quarter, no works since January 3. Will miss the Robert B. Lewis Stakes.

Ami's Holiday – Winner of the Gray Stakes hasn’t breezed since his third place finish in the Dec. 3 Display Stakes. Reported to be vacationing on an Ocala farm and should be in training at Oaklawn soon.

Cleburne  – Iroquois Stakes winner bucked shins in October. No breezes since September. Dale Romans reports that Cleburne is galloping at Gulfstream Park.

Go Greeley – Canadian multiple stakes winner hasn’t breezed since September.

Laddie Boy – Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes runner-up hasn’t worked since before November 30.

Smart Cover - Iroquois Stakes runner-up hasn’t worked since August. He’s been galloping at Gulfstream Park.

Wired Bryan – Sanford Stakes hasn’t been seen since his victory in the Bertram F. Bongard Stakes last October.
