#10 -  Chitu

Going into the Robert B Lewis, Midnight Hawk was in my top ten. In fact, I had Midnight Hawk in front of Candy Boy. But, after the dust settled, I guess you could say that this race changed my mind.

As much as I liked Candy Boy and his performance it should also be recognized that Chitu did not lay down easy and refused to let his stable mate Midnight Hawk get by him in the stretch. In only his third career start Chitu also showed signs that he will be ready for the demanding Kentucky Derby distance. After he crossed the wire he galloped out very strong alongside Candy Boy. So, his runner-up finish in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes has me thinking that we could have witnessed the first graded stakes race of an up and coming star out west.
