Previewing the Breeders' Cup Race-By-Race
BC Juvenile
The two favorites, 9 POWER BROKER and 4 SHANGHAI BOBBY, look strong but offer no value. 1 TITLE CONTENDER is a pricey colt, but he had his own way on the front last out, as did 2 SPEAK LOGISTICS. Of the favorites, I am givng Power Broker a slight edge, but I won't be trying to beat them.
BC Turf
1 POINT OF ENTRY is already the dominant American 12f turf horse, if not the best turf horse in the country. I have been more impressed with the Dynaformer colt every time I have watched him and could see the streak continuing here. 12 TRAILBLAZER is a very classy horse who has already gotten his feet wet in the U.S. 8 KINDERGARDEN KID is a horse I have followed throughout his career who could be usable underneath at a nice price.
BC Sprint
I don't have a great handle on this race, but I'll be trying to beat 11 AMAZOMBIE. 8 CAPITAL ACCOUNT looks very dangerous and I will use him on top. 7 THE LUMBER GUY popped in the Vosburgh, but I am going against him here. 12 HAMAZING DESTINY is a horse I have always avoided, but he often factors and must be used underneath.
BC Mile
2 WISE DAN is my favorite horse in training - and arguably the best with Frankel's retirement. 6 EXCELEBRATION is clearly deadly if he handles the travel. 9 MOONLIGHT CLOUD also looks very dangerous at a slightly better price.
BC Classic
11 MUCHO MACHO MAN is the pick here. 4 FORT LARNED is a solid horse who I will play confidently in multis and exotics. Toss the Foster and he is right there today. 12 TO HONOR AND SERVE has always been a go-against for me, but he was very solid in the Woodward and has been pointed at this one two years in a row. 10 RON THE GREEK seems safe to use underneath also.
