My dreamboat has arrived and it's Caixa Eletronica

It’s one of my many faults. I can’t help it, really. But I was always the type to fall in love easily back when I had permission to do such things. And with my wife’s full knowledge, it’s happened again just like it used to. I’m like a schoolboy who wants to yell, ‘Boy, do I love this horse, Caixa Eletronica.” And I don’t know why, maybe because he has made me some money these past few months.

I know it sounds like I just discovered him, but that’s not true. It’s just that I have recently fallen for him. He certainly isn’t a superstar, but the journeyman eight year old knows how to finish the race like a champ. Up in Saratoga in July and then at Belmont just last weekend in the Duck Dance Stakes, Caixa Eletronica did me well. With $10 bucks in July and another $10 bucks last weekend bet on his nose, I was convinced. Cashing tickets will help you fall in love with this Pletcher trained horse, trust me.

But something shocked me as Caixa Eletronica crossed the finish line. I heard track announcer Tom Durkin say something to the effect, “For the 23 time, its Caixa Eletronica.” Out of 68 races, this pony has won 23 times and another 20 times in the money. That’s more than half of his total races he’s either won, placed or showed. If this was baseball, this horse would be hitting over .500 and would be hailed as the greatest hitter of all time.

But it’s horse racing and a winning percentage like that is something to be looked at, talked about it and remembered for the next bet. The Repole Stables owned chestnut, ridden by Javier Castellano, paid $7.50/$3.80/$2.60 in the Duck Dance. Next time out-bet the mortgage on him, I'm going to.
