Spiral Analysis and Selections

The road to the Derby continues on Saturday with the running of the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral at Turfway Park. We are being treated to a competitive field of 12 going 1 1/8 mile over the all-weather. This will be the first time many of these horses stretch out to the distance, so keep that in mind when making your wagers. I had a tough time picking the winner as I would not be surprised to see a couple of them in the winner's circle.

Royal Son

If he goes out to dictate the early pace, this race may be over early. Dare we have a 'Royal' in pursuit of the crown?

2

Big Family

Blown out by Khozan in that February 22nd optional claimer at Gulfstream. Not expecting much noise from him here.

3

Watchyourownbobber

Love the name, but I think he will be back on the turf after this race. He appears to be fishin' in the dark here.

4

Wireless Future

Huge fan of Geroux, who is a jockey on the rise. This colt is going for 4 in a row but against much tougher. Gimmicks??

5

Another Lemon Drop

Came flying over the turf last time out but the weak showing in the LeComte two back is cause for concern. Going to pass.

Imperia

SCRATCHED

7

Magic of Believing

He's slowly improving, nothing flashy, just moving in the right direction. Could he shock us all with a big race? Absolutely!

8

Task Force Glory

Colt didn't take to the surface in his last start, expecting an encore performance today. Going to pass this go around.

9

Conquest Typhoon

I got burned by him in the El Camino. He needs to be stalking, but may once again find himself on the lead thanks to the speed setup in this race.

10

Firespike

I'm throwing out that last performance. He had too many issues to overcome. Don't expect a win, but a solid effort.

11

Metaboss

No doubt he should be in the mix late, but he is racing tougher this time out. Gonna watch the board to see how to play.

12

Dubai Sky

May get forced into an early duel with Royal Son which will not be ideal for this turfer. Stamina and distance are concerns.
