New York’s 2014 Kentucky Derby Contenders IV

The Gotham Stakes (G3) renewed the rivalry of the New York-breds Samraat and Uncle Sigh, but they allowed In Trouble to join in the fun. The three of them battled down the home stretch ending literally in a neck and neck finish. Those three ended up with a neck margin between the top two and then another neck to third place.
 
 
With his victory in the Gotham, Samraat earned 50 points and now sits on top of the Road to the Kentucky Derby standings with 60. Uncle Sigh upped his total to 24 points, which puts him in 5th place. In Trouble earned his first 10 points and that translates to the 18th spot.
 
Now that there is only two months until the 2014 Kentucky Derby it is time to trim the New York Contenders list. This will mark the first time that I rank my list based on their chance to actually win the Derby. I will also continue to show all of the contenders’ information based on the number of Road to the Kentucky Derby points earned.
 
My first New York Top 10 Contenders list takes into serious consideration that the best running style in the Kentucky Derby is that of the closers and deep closers. I’ve included the chart from my series of articles about running style from last year’s Triple Crown campaign.
